The small thing to remember

Make a separate copy before changing save files. A local backup and Steam Cloud are different things.

Choose the recovery path first

Treat a missing folder, an in-game deletion, and an unexpected older copy as separate cases. Record the glade name and last known good time. If you have another device with a useful copy, preserve it before trying more sync operations.

  1. Cannot find the files? Use the photo-mode folder button described below.
  2. Deleted a glade in the game? Read the deleted-glade section before selecting a backup.
  3. The glade opens but looks older? Check local backups and any Steam Cloud error separately.

Find the right folder

Open photo mode and use its folder button. From the screenshots folder, go up one level to find saves. Each glade has its own folder; the screenshot.jpg inside helps you identify it.

The developer lists saves under %USERPROFILE%\Saved Games\Tiny Glade\Steam on Windows, and ~/.local/share/Tiny Glade/Steam on Linux and Mac. Open your Steam ID folder, then saves.

  1. Find the glade you want using its preview image.
  2. Close the game before making a separate copy.
  3. Copy the folder to a different location and label that copy with the date. Keep the original in place.

Use the in-game backup menu

In Load, highlight the glade and choose the clock-and-arrow icon to see its backups. Local backups live in backup-saves and are not synced to another device by Steam Cloud.

Keep a note of the glade and the time you are trying to recover. Review the available backups before choosing one; the developer's recovery page explains the exact behavior.

Recover a glade deleted in the game

Pounce Light documents a deleted-saves folder alongside saves. Its recovery method is to copy the matching glade folder back into saves.

Before copying, keep a separate copy of the folder you found and close the game. Keep the original folder name. If a destination with that name already exists, stop and compare your copies rather than approving a replacement.

Treat a cloud error as a separate problem

Do not dismiss a Steam Cloud error. Check the developer's cloud guidance before continuing. Avoid replacing files while you are unsure which device has the version you want.

For a useful support request, record the device, glade name, last known good time, and the exact error. Do not post your whole save folder or personal account details publicly.

Check the original guidance

Details can change with the game. These are the sources checked for this note.
